Lead core trolling has a long history on Lake Lanier, dating back to the days prior to the legal use of Blue Back Herring. When the Lake water warms in May and June, Stripers begin to school and one of the preferred fishing methods for Stripers is lead core trolling.

Tyler Weldon caught this 80" sailfish at the whistle buoy 3 miles off shore in Panama City on 7/18/11. He was flat lining a live cigar minnow, the rig consist of 3/4oz. egg weight, 60lb. fluorocarbon leader, and a 4/0 octopus hook. The battle took 45 min. to land the fish, the fish also jumped 15-20 times and we released it.…
